Hobbs has Dom and Brian reassemble their crew in order to take down a mastermind who commands an organization of mercenary drivers across 12 countries.

A “tuned up” continuation of the series, the new film features Toretto and team recruited by special forces agent “Hobbs” (Dwayne Johnson) to stop a rogue terrorist organization from wreaking havoc in America. Facing a virtually identical set of opponents in skill to themselves, the stakes are higher, but the reward of success means full pardons for all members.

It suffers some of the same issues of juvenile nonsense mixed with the usual dose of car porn from the previous movies, but they are much less noticeable this time around, thanks to more action and solid humor. This is the best movie of the series yet.

Continuing essentially where the last film left off, about the only thing impressive about this is the voice of Cobra Commander (Luke Bracey).

“Storm Shadow” (Byung-hun Lee) and “Zartan” (Arnold Vasloo) remain at large. But with an imposter president who threatens the team, it won’t be long until the Joes find themselves and every nation facing world war III.

The fighting delivers. The sophomoric dialog and cheesy acting do not, and it never bodes well for a movie when a supporting character (Walton Goggins as “Warden James”) outperforms everyone else on set, including the A-listers.  The smarmy rock n’ roll background music make things feel all the cheaper.

I’ll leave it to you to decide which is worse between the first and second films, but the question I have: Is this the easiest paycheck Willis, Tatum, and Johnson ever made or what?!

Bogged down in its tepid writing, The Big Wedding is a big disappointment to all except the most forgiving audiences who can overlook the sappy story that is carried only by the charm of its cast rather than anything else.
